Suriya accepts the Academy’s invitation to serve on the Oscars committee “humbly.”
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences invited actor Suriya to join the Oscars committee on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Suriya ‘humbly’ accepted the invitation through Twitter. Suriya has become the first actor from the south of India to be asked to the Oscars committee, thanks to the success of his most recent films, Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim.
On Tuesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tweeted the names of the 397 artists who had been asked to join the Academy’s Class of 2022. Suriyas was among them. After a clip from Suriya’s Tamil courtroom drama Jai Bhim (2021) was posted on the Oscars’ Youtube account under the category “Scene at the Academy,” Suriya received an invitation. Suriya thanked The Academy for the invitation and promised to work hard to make everyone proud, quoting the tweet.
“Thank you @TheAcademy for the invitation, which I gratefully accept,” he wrote. I sincerely thank everyone who has supported me and I promise to always work hard to earn your admiration.
Kamal Haasan, an actor and director, congratulated Suriya on the uncommon honour and advised him to be proud of his accomplishments on Twitter. Glad my brother @Suriya offl treads the ground of stars, he stated in his post. despite the weakening effects of gravity on wings. Angels and stars were made by us. So, be happy to join the company of perfection, brother.
Suriya recently appeared in Vikram, Kamal’s most recent film, where she played a significant part. In appreciation for the 10-minute guest appearance, Kamal even gave the actor his Rolex watch worth 47 lakh after he portrayed the role of Rolex.
The Hindi version of Soorarai Pottru, which stars Akshay Kumar opposite Bhumi Pednekar, will be produced by Suriya’s business 2D Entertainment, marking his upcoming foray into Bollywood as a producer. Recently, it was made public that the actor also makes a cameo in the untitled Hindi version.

On social media, a picture of Rashmika Mandanna from the set of her next movie, Pushpa: The Rule, has surfaced. The image and a purported video of the actor from Pushpa 2 filming were shared by a number of fans. Rashmika strolled with her colleagues in the video that was posted on X (previously Twitter). She was wearing a red and golden saree. The actress chose to wear flowers on her head and traditional jewelry. She nodded and grinned at the fans, who were anticipating the actor’s arrival. Rashmika’s forehead was adorned with sindoor, or vermillion. She was observed strolling with her security guards and police officers.
