Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain “Likely” In Parts Of Delhi: Weather Office
Meteorological officials here stated that the rain hit several parts of the capital on Thursday night. Safdarjung Observatory did not record rain until 5.30 pm, but witnessed late-night showers in Akbar Road, Hanuman Road, Noida, Mayur Vihar-1, Narela, Alipur, Burari, Model Town, Karawaal Nagar, Civil Lines, Dilshad, Kashmiri Gate, Seelampur, Vivek Vihar, Red Fort, ITO, Delhi Cantt, Palam, Safdarjung and Vasant Vihar.
According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is expected on Friday. This year’s monsoon produced 1,164.7 mm of abundant rainfall in Delhi until Wednesday morning, which was the highest level since 1964 and the third highest rainfall since the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) maintained data. The Bureau of Meteorology also stated that there will be thunderstorms in and around Yamunanagar, Karnal, Rajaund, Assandh and Safidon, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall.
“The city was generally cloudy on Friday with light rain or drizzle. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Friday may hover around 34 and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively,” an IMD official said. The highest temperature in the capital on Thursday was 33.3 degrees Celsius, lower than the average for this season, while the lowest temperature was 24.7 degrees Celsius, higher than normal.
IMD officials said the relative humidity on Thursday night was 68%, while the morning record was 87%.
