Rohit Shetty House Firing: Shocking Probe Nets 5 Arrests

The silence of a Sunday night in Juhu was shattered by a sound no one expected—gunfire. In a moment that felt like a dark script from one of his own action movies, famed filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai home became the setting for a true crime drama. On February 1, 2026, unidentified gunmen opened fire outside “Shetty Tower,” sending shockwaves through Bollywood and sparking one of the most intense manhunts in recent city history.

The Midnight Ambush

At approximately 12:45 AM, while the city slept, two men on a motorcycle pulled up near the director’s nine-storey residential tower. Witnesses and security footage show a horrifying scene: a man in a black jacket and white trousers steps off his bike and fires five rounds at the building. One bullet apparently penetrated the glass facade of a gymnasium on the first floor, while others impacted the compound’s walls.

Rohit Shetty was apparently inside his residence on the seventh floor when the attack occurred. Fortunately, the “Singham” director and his family escaped unharmed, but the brazenness of the assault triggered a quick and overwhelming police response.

The Massive Police Mobilization

Mumbai Police took the threat seriously. Within hours, the Mumbai Crime Branch and local Juhu police had roped off the area. To guarantee that no stone was left unturned, the authorities organized 12 special teams dedicated entirely to the investigation.

Scanning the Escape Routes

The investigation started with a computerized sweep. The 12 teams were charged with scanning over 100 CCTV cameras in the Juhu and Vile Parle neighborhoods. Their purpose was to trace the motorcycle’s movement from the moment it entered the wealthy area until it was abandoned.

Forensic Deep-Dive

Forensic experts and ballistic teams were seen examining the location for evidence throughout the morning on Sunday. They discovered five empty rounds from the scene, which are now being tested to determine the type of weapon used. Initial indications indicate that a high-quality firearm was used in the incident.

The Pune Connection: Five Suspects Are Detained

The first big breakthrough occurred on the outskirts of Mumbai. Following a tip-off and technical monitoring, the Mumbai Crime Branch collaborated with Pune City Police to apprehend a group of suspects.

Coordinated Raids

In a swift operation on Sunday afternoon, five individuals were detained in the Warje and Dhayari areas of Pune. They were identified as follows:

  • Siddharth Deepak Yenpure (20)
  • Samarth Shivsharan Pomaji (18)
  • Swapnil Bandu Sakat (23)
  • Aditya Dnyaneshwar Gayaki (19)
  • Aman Anand Marote (27)

While the majority are young males working in the informal sector or studying, the police believe they supplied critical “logistical support”—including the scooter and local reconnaissance—to carry out the firing.

The Shadow of the Bishnoi Gang

The most concerning part of the case is the possible connection to organized crime. Shortly after the shooting, a social media post appeared from an account associated with Shubham Lonkar, a wanted Lawrence Bishnoi gang member.

A “Short Trailer” Warning

The post claimed full responsibility for the attack, referring to it as a “short trailer.” It admonished the filmmaker to “stop interfering” with their work and claimed that the next bullets will come from inside his bedroom rather than outside. This pattern closely resembles the 2024 fire incident outside Salman Khan’s home, implying a planned intimidation campaign targeting Bollywood’s greatest stars.

The Motive Under Scrutiny

While the group claimed Shetty ignored previous warnings, Mumbai Police are investigating further. They are looking into whether this is an act of extortion, a retaliation to the filmmaker’s “cop universe” films, or a deliberate ploy to achieve industry control following the 2024 assassination of politician Baba Siddique.

Security Beefed Up

In the wake of the incident, security around Rohit Shetty and his residence has been drastically increased. Additional police officers and private security guards have been dispatched to “Shetty Tower” to prevent any escalation, while the search for the actual shooter, who is still at large, continues.
