Twitter Adds Pinned Conversations Feature to DMs, Allows Users to Pin Up to Six Chats on Android, iOS, and Web

Twitter has introduced conversation pinning to its direct message (DM) service on iOS, Android, and the web, allowing users to pin chats to the top of their inbox. Pinning conversations keeps them at the top of the chat list even if they receive updated messages from other chats. The feature was previously part of the company’s paid subscription service Twitter Blue, which granted exclusive access to new features before they became available to other users.

The microblogging service announced Friday that users can now pin up to six conversations to the top of their DM inboxes on Android and iOS devices and the web version of Twitter.

Gadgets 360 tested the feature and found that pinning a conversation on one device simultaneously pushed it on top of the others. Pinning a chat will move it to a separate section called Pinned Conversations, while other chats are listed under All Conversations.

Twitter also allows users to pin group chats to the top, which makes it easier to find chats with multiple users, especially if your inbox is very busy (or active). However, when you hit the share button to DM a tweet, the pinned conversation doesn’t appear at the top – Twitter seems to preserve the chronological order of chats in this menu.

Pinning conversations is a common feature in several popular messaging apps – WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Google and Apple messaging apps, and Facebook Messenger all offer the ability to pin a conversation to the top of a user’s chat list for pinning. The Weibo service, the last of those services to roll out the feature, launched shortly after acquiring Slack rival Quill in December to help it improve its messaging tools.

Surfaces of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra with Snapdragon 8S Gen 3

Early this week, renders of the Edge 50 Fusion appeared, and Motorola has previously stated that the Edge 50 Pro will ship on April 3. The highest-end smartphone in the Edge 50 series, the Edge 50 Ultra, has now been shown in renders.

The phone is depicted in the renderings in peach fuzz and black with a vegan leather finish, while sisal, a beige color, will have a brushed surface. As opposed to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the Pro variant and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in the Edge 50 Fusion, the phone is reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.

A 50MP primary camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a periscope telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom are all included in the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra’s feature set. Additionally, there is a triple LED flash on the right side and a laser autofocus feature above the periscope lens.

Although the phone’s display, battery, and charging specifications are yet unknown, the Edge 50 Pro is said to include 12GB of RAM and support both 50W and 125W wired and wireless charging.

It is anticipated that this will launch as the Motorola X50 Ultra in China. It is unclear if the India launch may be expected on the same day as the rest of the Edge 50 series phones, even if this is scheduled to go official on April 3.
