‘Words cannot do justice’: PM Modi wishes soldiers, their families on Army Day

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his best wishes to soldiers, veterans and their families on the occasion of Army Day on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the bravery and professionalism shown by the Indian Army, saying that words cannot do justice to their valuable contribution to national security.

“On this occasion of Army Day, best wishes to our brave soldiers, esteemed veterans and their families. The Indian Army is known for its bravery and professionalism. The invaluable contribution of the Indian Army to national security cannot be overstated. Words describe it,” PM Modi tweeted.

India celebrates Army Day every year on January 15 to recognize the importance of the Indian Army and commemorate the sacrifices of soldiers. On this day in 1949, Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa took over as Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Buch, India’s last British Commander-in-Chief.

“Indian Army personnel serve in hostile areas and are at the forefront of helping fellow citizens during humanitarian crises including natural disasters. India is also proud of the Army’s outstanding contribution to overseas peacekeeping missions,” the prime minister tweeted wrote.
