Maharashtra School Reopening Decision announced, classes to resume from Monday
Maharashtra schools will reopen on Monday 24th January 2022. State School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that the state government has approved the reopening of schools in classes 1 to 12. Students can come to the school for offline classes.
The government also said local authorities were still free to answer calls about school reopenings and closures. Students and permit holders have been told they must contact the school early for detailed guidelines. They have to wait for the same detailed order. The reopening of schools in Maharashtra is a big decision today as the state is one of the worst affected by COVID-19 in the country.
Local authorities will soon announce their final decision and will also issue guidelines if the reopening of schools is approved. The Maharashtra school reopening decision is now entirely up to the state government and is expected to be taken in a cabinet meeting today, 20 January 2022. This issue is likely to be resolved today, as people have been divided after the peak observed in COVID-19 cases. At this point, the bigger question is – should schools reopen for everyone/district? Or should schools remain closed until cases drop? Please vote below.
The decision to reopen schools in Maharashtra is expected to be positive, according to reports. A number of state ministers have spoken to the media on several occasions, noting that the government is under intense pressure from parents to reopen schools. Furthermore, given the relatively low rate of hospitalizations this time around, the reopening of the school can be considered a safe option.
