In an audition, Ajay Devgn recited Zanjeer phrases, revealing that the director of Phool Aur Kaante wanted Akshay Kumar for the film.

With the 1991 film Phool Aur Kaante, Ajay Devgn made his Bollywood debut. Ajay is one of the most commercially successful actors in the film industry, having appeared in over 100 films over the course of 30 years. The actor, however, was not the first choice for his debut film, which went on to become a box office hit. Kuku Kohli has now revealed that he had hoped to cast Akshay Kumar in the film, but Ajay persuaded him to do so.

Madhoo, Aruna Irani, Jagdeep, and Amrish Puri were among the cast members of Phool Aur Kaante. Ajay won an award for his debut and is best remembered for his incredible entrance scene, in which he appeared on screen standing on two moving motorcycles.

“I had auditioned many established actors,” Kuku Kohli told ETimes in an interview about how he chose Akshay for the film. In fact, I had Akshay Kumar pencilled in for the lead role. However, he had agreed to star in a Pramod Chakraborty film that was set to begin around the same time. He was unable to assign bulk dates.”

“Then, I saw Ajay’s picture in his dad’s office,” he continued, referring to Ajay’s casting in the film. Raju was his name at the time. I asked his father if he aspired to be a hero. I auditioned Ajay, and he exuded confidence; he recited several Zanjeer dialogues during the audition.”

“Frankly, it was my father’s (Veeru Devgan) dream to launch me as an actor,” Ajay told Hindustan Times in an interview after reaching the milestone of 30 years in the industry. All I had to do was concentrate on realising his dream. I didn’t think about whether or not I would be successful at the time. “All I did was follow orders.”

“I was catapulted to stardom when Phool Aur Kaante became a craze.” Every daredevil adolescent in the country aspired to make his way through life by riding two motorcycles in a split! I was inexperienced, and unprepared for stardom. God, my parents’ blessings, the blessings of the industry, and the blessings of the fans gave me the adoration that a celebrity receives,” he added.

Ajay was recently seen in Runway 34 with Amitabh Bachchan. In addition to Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRR, he played a significant role in Gangubai Kathiawadi. He has a number of projects in the works, including Maidaan, Drishyam 2, and Thank God.

Family Star review

The Hindustan Times’ review of the movie Family Star, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Parasuram Petla, suggests that the film struggles to make a mark or entertain, with issues reminiscent of Geetha Govindam (2018). The film tests patience and fails to maintain interest as it progresses.

The review criticizes the plot of Family Star, stating that it is thin and defies logic, making it difficult to enjoy. It also suggests that the film’s portrayal of middle-class life is caricaturish, as if it was written by someone unfamiliar with the realities of such a life.
