Ankit Raj: I’m quitting TV to focus on movies and a web series

Ankit Raj, who starred in Laado-2 and Ascharyachakit, has submitted his paperwork for his ongoing TV show, Garud, in order to further explore the film and OTT spaces. The young actor believes that switching to films and OTT is the best course of action after performing in eight shows over the course of seven years.

“I have quit the programme and am completing my notice period because I want to concentrate on my upcoming film and web series as well as new jobs. Currently, I want to focus on other media and take a break from TV, therefore I need to avoid the daily soap drill, the actor claims.

Raj left his native Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, to pursue modelling. “I intended to do it. In order to use it as a return ticket when I travelled to Delhi in 2009, my mum offered me 350. By God’s help, I am currently living comfortably in Mumbai and driving a foreign luxury car, but there is still more to be done.

He remembers receiving a call from Mumbai regarding the 2014 movie Karle Pyar Karle, and by the time it was released, he had received Qubool Hai (2015), beginning his TV career.

His little experience with the internet inspired him to pursue it more seriously. “Although my first web movie, Ascharyachakit (2018), was intended for adults, it was warmly received and I still receive letters about it from all over the world. Then I completed Qubool Hai 2.0, a web series with a limited run that I really enjoyed. My acting career took off on the internet even though I learned everything the hard way on television and am very grateful for the medium.

“TV is a lot of work, but then you’re there shooting crazily without a direction,” Raj continues. I had the ability to live the persona I was playing in movies and television shows. I am portraying a passionate young Muslim student leader, the parallel lead, same like in Karan Razdan’s film Hindutva. So, throughout the entire shoot period, I had a tonne to learn and practise. Similar to this, I play the boyfriend of the slain girl in the murder mystery series The Case of Gill, thus I had a lot to add to my character. It’s now time to take a small move forward.

He continues, “Someday, if I get a reality programme like Khatron Ke Khiladi or a finite series, then I would love to do that, presumably remembering the phrase “never say never” in the process. But enough of these everyday soap opera sagas already… I’m holding off on starting any potential new projects for the time being, although I might shortly begin filming a series.

Kangana Ranaut compares herself to Big B, saying, “After Amitabh Bachchan, if someone has received so much love…,” to which internet users respond, “best joke.”

Even though Kangana Ranaut has been receiving a lot of attention for her public talks, her comparison of herself to Amitabh Bachchan at a recent speech at an election rally has generated a lot of controversy online.

Actress Kangana Ranaut, who is well-known for her blunt remarks, is presently engaged in the Lok Sabha election campaign. She is a candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Himachal Pradesh district of Mandi. Although her statements in public have garnered a lot of attention, her comparison of herself to Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan in a recent speech at an electoral rally has sparked a lot of conversation online.

“Aisa lagta hai ki mano itna pyaar aur itna sammaan, ki wo Kangana, chahe Rajasthan chali jau, chahe mai West Bengal chali jau, chahe mai Delhi chali jau, chahe mai Manipur chali jau, sara desh hairaan hai… Meher daave se keh sakti hu ke Amitabh Bachchan ji ke baad aaj kisiko industri me milta hai to wo mujhe milta hai (The entire country is startled… there seems to be so much love and respect everywhere I go, whether it Rajasthan, West Bengal, Delhi, or Manipur). At the gathering, she declared, “I can state with confidence that, after Amitabh Bachchan, if anyone receives such love and respect in the industry, it is me.

Since then, the video of her statement has gone viral and sparked a range of emotions from online users. Despite her recent run of box office disappointments, many people have expressed sarcasm over her comparison to one of Bollywood’s most beloved legends. After releasing her final successful movie in 2015, Kangana has a string of 15 consecutive failures. As it shared the video on X (previously Twitter), a verified parody account said, “Here she is comparing herself to Amitabh Bachchan 😂😂.”

Another Twitterati said, “Judging by her speeches, Kangana Ranaut might be the first actress in the nation to get a national award for her role as an election candidate.”

It was called the “best joke of the year” by one user and the “peak level of self-obsession” by another.

“The next stage of self-obsession is this.” Following a string of poor performances, Kangana Ranaut equated herself to Amitabh Bachchan. According to a verified X account that supports the Congress, “Nobody has ever insulted Amit Ji like this before.”

In response, another Twitter user sent a photo of the headline of an old news story detailing Kangana’s 2022 action film Dhaakad’s poor box office performance—which ended up being a huge failure. The headline stated, “Dhaakad box office collection: Kangana Ranaut’s film sells 20 tickets and collects Rs 4420 on day 8.”

The seventh and final round of the current general elections is set to take place on June 1, with elections for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat. Ram Swaroop Sharma of the BJP won the seat in 2019, however it was left empty after his death in 2021. Pratibha Singh of the Congress won the seat back in the ensuing by-election later that year.
