Following the racist scandal at the Met Gala, Stray Kids revealed that they will play on Good Morning America.

JYP Entertainment’s well-known all-boy K-pop group Stray Kids has landed a slot on Good Morning America for tomorrow. The eight-piece JYP entertainment group is still interacting with fans all around the world. They just attended the esteemed Met Gala for the first time. Racist and impolite remarks from the paparazzi, however, ruined their vacation, and fans were incensed at the disrespect exhibited to the Asian band.

The group announced on May 13 that they will be appearing on the ABC morning television show in the United States. On May 15, the JYP label group is scheduled to perform their most recent English hit, “Lose My Breath,” starring Charlie Puth. The LALALALA singers’ official social media account shared the news with the following caption: “We are thrilled to reveal that we will be performing at the @GMA! Pay attention. Schedule: 2024.05.15 at 7 a.m. (ET) and 8 p.m. (KST).

Fans were ecstatic to hear of the band’s appearance, especially because the LALALALA vocalists have a sizable fan following in America in addition to Asia. Not all online users, particularly Koreans, were pleased with the news, though, particularly in light of the disdain the trio experienced at the Met Gala this year. Being the first and only K-pop group to perform at the “Oscars of Fashion,” they allegedly encountered some racist comments from photographers on the red carpet, which sparked backlash.

“Racist” debate surrounding Stray Kids at the 2024 Met Gala

For this year’s Met theme, Garden of Time, Stray Kids made an appearance at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 6. The lads’ pictures went popular on social media because they had flawless cosmetics and elegant outfits that made them appear otherworldly. It was Jennie from BLACKPINK, another K-pop diva, who made her second appearance on the red carpet.

Nevertheless, the internet went wild when videos went public that depicted a bunch of photographers making “racist” comments about the group. The video had remarks like “they look like robots,” “can you please jump,” and “so unemotional and expressionless.” Quick-witted followers identified the primary offenders behind the glasses and discovered their Instagram profile, where they were inundated with comments expressing regret to the group. Fans of the group were requesting an apology on social media throughout the whole day.
