A cameo appearance by Malala Yousafzai in the second season of the British television series We Are Lady Parts marks her screen debut. Since its publication, the TV show’s first glimpse of the Nobel Peace Prize recipient has garnered attention on social media. Malala is seen riding a horse and sporting a cowboy hat. On Thursday, NBCUniversal’s streaming service in the US and Channel 4 in the UK will launch Season 2 of Niza Mandoor’s show, which will feature an appearance by the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Malala looks like a total cowgirl in her first cameo.
On Reddit, someone shared Malala’s initial impression and commented, “For some reason, a lot of people are going to be annoyed for this.” A different individual said, “Making weak idiots very, very angry is kind of her thing.” Some Instagram users weren’t thrilled with Malala’s first appearance.
“Doing what she does best… acting,” one person wrote. Everything is now out in the open.” “Acting and hidden talent?,” remarked a second. Nope! You were engaged in it right away.” “Rafah is on fire, and when did she raise her voice for them???” was the remark made by someone else on a post, challenging her purported quiet on Palestine. Someone wrote, “Leave her alone!” in support of Malala. Give her space to live. She does not lead your life.
Malala in her first acting role
“I never expected to be in a show,” the campaigner stated in an exclusive interview with British Vogue. When questioned further about how she got the role in Nida Manzoor’s We Are Lady Parts, which centres on the members of an all-female Muslim punk band determined to become well-known—Amina (Anjana Vasan), Saira (Sarah Kameela Impey), Ayesha (Juliette Motamed), Momtaz (Lucie Shorthouse), and Bisma (Faith Omole)—Malala responded, “I went to the premiere of Polite Society, and I saw her speak there.” That movie is a work of art. It dispelled every stereotype.
“I thanked Nida for making it, and for creating We Are Lady Parts,” she continued. They have such a large audience and are really significant. They are not just for people of colour; everyone can identify with them on many levels, including friendship, family dynamics, and having the courage to pursue your ambitions. I want women and young people to have the opportunity to represent the world as they see it, and through those stories, we can all connect with one another. This is another reason I decided to enter the entertainment industry. However, I’ve always worked behind the scenes; I never imagined that I would be in a show. I’m at last showcasing my latent skill now.”
