AAP promises free bus service for women, 300 units free electricity in UP

The Aam Aadmi party released its Uttar Pradesh parliamentary election manifesto on Thursday, promising free bus services for women, 300 units of free electricity and round-the-clock electricity in the state.

The manifesto, titled “Kejriwal Guarantee Card”, was released by AAP Uttar Pradesh chief Sanjay Singh at a press conference.

The party has pledged to provide free bus service to women across the state, with 300 units of free electricity and 24/7 power.

It also pledged to create a law to guarantee minimum support prices (MSPs) for farmers’ products.

We will forgive all farm loans and provide farmers with the cost of produce within 24 hours. The (MSP) price of sugar cane goes up every year and the farmer is paid when he unloads the cane at the factory,” Singh said in a statement.

Pending payments and low support prices for cane farmers have been a problem in the western part of the state.

Singh said the AAP also promised compensation of Rs 50,000 per hectare if farmers lost their produce due to adverse weather conditions such as drought or floods.

The party has pledged 1 million government jobs, hiring 97,000 teachers and pledging to preserve 80 per cent of state government jobs for local youth.

For government employees, it pledged to revive the old pension scheme and address the problems of more than 45,000 police officers in the volunteer force Prantiya Raksha Dal (PRD).

AAP also committed to life insurance for attorneys up to $1 million.

Monetary compensation of Rs 1 crore will be provided to the next of kin of a soldier killed in the line of duty as well as for the work of his family members. Singh said compensation of Rs 1 per person will also be provided to the families of Covid fighters who lost their lives.
