After Jodhpur, the internet was shut down in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, due to new clashes

Following a violent incident in the city’s Sanganer area last night, internet services in Bhilwara were suspended for 24 hours on Thursday, according to district collector Ashish Modi. According to news agency ANI, citing the district collector, at least two people were attacked while eating by unknown people.

“Their bike had also been set on fire. “We’re looking into it right now,” he said. It’s still unclear whether this was a case of communal violence.

Several incidents of religious clashes have been reported across India in recent weeks, including in Rajasthan. On Eid, clashes erupted in Jodhpur, prompting the district’s authorities to impose a curfew and shut down the internet.

Several parts of town were placed under curfew until Wednesday, and mobile internet service was still unavailable, according to police.

In connection with the Eid violence in Jodhpur, Rajasthan police have arrested nearly 100 people. The BJP, according to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, is to blame for the violence.

Following incidents of stone pelting during a religious procession in Rajasthan’s Karauli district, section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was imposed last month. The clashes reportedly injured 35 people, one of whom was critically injured.
