Speaking with Indian Express, Avantika said she would ‘walk out of the room’, unable to watch certain scenes: “I watched it a couple of times when I was much younger. When I first saw it, I couldn’t take it because I couldn’t watch my mom being sad. It would not sit well with me. So, I would walk out of the room.”
However, Avantika adds that over the years she has finally grasped what Maine Pyar Kiya means to audiences: “We see that wherever we go, even 30 years after the film’s release, Mama is still full of love and admiration. It reminds People, the industry rewards you with years of love when you do something so amazing.”
In an interview with HT Brunch, Bhagyashree talked about the “mania” for Maine Pyar Kiya when the film came out: “I was immersed in the joy of motherhood and the success of my debut, Maine Pyar Kiya. On the doorstep of the building where I live, it is always possible to Saw a huge crowd. The postman sends me a big bag of letters every day – he asks for a bonus every week because he has to carry the load.”
“However, it’s strange that I turned a blind eye to the craze because I was married and a mother. I was immersed in my own little world and busy playing with my newborn son,” added Bhagyashree. Her son Abhimanyu Dassani is also an actor.
Avantika Dassani is ready to work with the ZEE5 web series Mithya. She co-stars alongside Huma Qureshi in the series, which is directed by Rohan Sippy. Mithya will start streaming on OTT platforms on February 18.
