These new buildings will appear on the plot where the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts is located.
An official said that the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) committee, which has been implementing the Modi government’s ambitious Central Vista reconstruction project, will decide on the tendering work in the next few days. The official added that normally, the lowest bidder (L-1) gets the contract. Four infrastructure companies, Tata Projects, Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd, Larsen & Toubro Limited and NCC Limited have submitted technical tenders for the construction of the three buildings of the Common Central Secretariat.
Last month, CPWD revised the estimated construction and maintenance costs of the three buildings of the Common Central Secretariat. The estimated construction and maintenance costs of these three buildings have been revised from Rs 3,408 crore to approximately Rs 3,254 crore. Tata Projects Limited is constructing a new parliament building, and Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited is performing the reconstruction of Central Vista Avenue from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.
The reconstruction of the central landscape of the National Power Corridor envisages a new parliament building, a common central secretariat, the transformation of the 3 km Rajpath from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, the new office and residence of the Prime Minister, and new vice-president enclave.
