Central Vista revamp: Larsen & Toubro bags three project works

On Monday, infrastructure company Larsen & Toubro Limited became the lowest bidder for the construction and maintenance of the first three buildings of the Common Central Secretariat under the Central Vista reconstruction project. According to the bid documents of the Central Public Works Department, Larsen & Toubro Limited’s quotation is approximately Rs 3,141 crore, which is 3.47% lower than the estimated cost.

The total amount of bids submitted by the company was Rs 31,41,99,87,657. NCC Ltd quoted the project with the second lowest bid amount of approximately Rs 3,318 crore, which was 1.94% higher than the estimated cost. The tender documents show that Tata Projects Co., Ltd.’s offer is approximately Rs 3,546 crore, which is 8.96% higher than the estimated cost. These new buildings will appear on the plot where the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts is located.

An official said that the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) committee, which has been implementing the Modi government’s ambitious Central Vista reconstruction project, will decide on the tendering work in the next few days. The official added that normally, the lowest bidder (L-1) gets the contract. Four infrastructure companies, Tata Projects, Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd, Larsen & Toubro Limited and NCC Limited have submitted technical tenders for the construction of the three buildings of the Common Central Secretariat.

Last month, CPWD revised the estimated construction and maintenance costs of the three buildings of the Common Central Secretariat. The estimated construction and maintenance costs of these three buildings have been revised from Rs 3,408 crore to approximately Rs 3,254 crore. Tata Projects Limited is constructing a new parliament building, and Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited is performing the reconstruction of Central Vista Avenue from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.

The reconstruction of the central landscape of the National Power Corridor envisages a new parliament building, a common central secretariat, the transformation of the 3 km Rajpath from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, the new office and residence of the Prime Minister, and new vice-president enclave.

The Adani Enterprises unit has received a letter of approval for an NH project in Maharashtra

Adani Road Transport Ltd (ARTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, has received LoA for a project involving six laning of Kagal-Satara section of NH-48 (old NH4) in Maharashtra. The project will be executed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana at ₹2,008.47 crores. The construction period for the 67-km long road project is expected to be 2 years from the date of appointment and the concession period will be 18 years.

With this project award, Adani’s road portfolio will have total 14 projects with more than 5,000 lane km with asset value exceeding ₹41,000 crore spread across India.
