Death Toll From CoronaVirus In China Crosses 2,300, WHO Team Reaches Wuhan
The death toll has risen to 2,345, with 109 more deaths due to the Coronavirus outbreak in China, while 76,288 people have been confirmed infected. China’s health officials said that the World Health Organization (WHO) experts present in the country are likely to visit the most affected Wuhan city on Saturday to investigate the outbreak of the Kovid-19 disease.
A Chinese health official said on Saturday that Kovid-19 has been confirmed on Friday out of a total of 397 people, while 109 deaths have been reported from 31 provincial-level areas. A regular report by the National Health Commission (NHC) said on Saturday that a total of 2,345 people died of the disease by the end of Friday and coronary virus infection has been confirmed in 76,288 people across the country.
According to the report, 106 of these deaths have occurred in Hubei province, one each in Hebei, Shanghai and Xinjiang province. The Provincial Health Commission said that until Friday in Hubei province, 106 deaths have been confirmed as well as 366 more infections.
It said that according to the new report, 63,455 people have been diagnosed with an infection in the most affected province.
NHC said that 20,659 patients infected with the virus across China were discharged from the hospital on Friday after their condition improved.
WHO Director-General Taderos Adhanom Grabayes told the media in Geneva on Friday that the WHO-led team of international experts, currently present in China, would visit Wuhan on Saturday to investigate the coronavirus outbreak.
The 12-member team, which arrived in China on Monday, was initially allowed to travel to Beijing, Guangdong and Sichuan provinces while the badly affected Hubei province and its capital Wuhan were missing from the list. However, the Chinese government eventually allowed the team to go to Wuhan. Apart from controlling the spread of the virus, the WHO team and their Chinese counterparts have the biggest task of designing standard drugs to treat the disease.
