Delhi Metro to get back to routine weekend schedule from today

Metro trains in Delhi will run on a regular weekend schedule from Saturday as the capital eases Covid-19 restrictions as the number of infections improves, officials said. Subway service has so far been running at 15-minute intervals on the yellow and blue lines and 20-minute intervals on all other lines to comply with the weekend curfew lifted on Thursday.

Delhi’s weekend curfew was imposed from January 8, when a third wave dominated by Omicron began to soar in the capital.

“In light of the latest guidelines issued by the government. In order to contain Covid-19 in NCT Delhi, the weekend (Saturday/Sunday) metro services will be on the regular weekend time for all lines from tomorrow (i.e. 29 January 2022) Tables are back up again,” tweeted the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Metro trains will operate at 100% seating capacity, with no stationary rules. The DMRC further said that access to the station will continue to be regulated based on ground conditions to ensure compliance with Covid guidelines.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), chaired by Deputy Governor Anil Baijal, held a review meeting with the Delhi government on Thursday to lift the weekend lockdown and end the odd-even system for opening non-essential shops in the city. .

The DDMA also allowed restaurants, bars, movie theaters and theaters to reopen at 50% capacity in light of the improvement in the COVID-19 situation.

As announced earlier, there will be minor changes to Metro service on the Yellow Line today, in conjunction with the retreat ceremony.

The DMRC had earlier informed that on January 29, MRT services at the Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan MRT Station on Line 2 will remain closed from 2pm to 6.30pm.

During this period, Central Secretariat MRT station will allow passengers to transfer from Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh and vice versa. It added that normal services will resume after 6:30pm.

Will Disney release an episode of Neil Gaiman’s Simpsons? Fans ponder

Neil Gaiman’s sexual misconduct allegations have reignited discussions about his cameo in The Simpsons episode ‘The Book Job.’
Famed English author Neil Gaiman has been accused of sexual misconduct by eight women, with some alleging violent sexual assault. These accusations first surfaced in the Tortoise Media podcast Master last summer and have been elaborated upon in a recent exposé published by New York Magazine.

While these allegations can hardly be deemed unimportant or unrelated to actual concern, they have also energised quite a debate regarding Gaiman’s previous participation in media, including his cameo on The Simpsons. Especially all fans are pinning Season 23 of the show, which is focused on the story of the episode ‘The Book Job’, including Gaiman.

‘The Book Job’ is a heist theme, fleshed out by Ocean’s 11, in which Homer becomes a part of a team responsible for writing a best-selling, yet worthless, fictional young adult novel. Here, the primary characters of the cartoon are Bart Simpson and Patty, Moe, Principal Skinner, and others. Gaiman is actually an uninvited man who tries to become the author’s consultant and takes the manuscript from them, pretending to be their friend. As a final punch line, he claims he cannot even read.

Gaiman denies any sexual harassment allegations

A similar precedent exists in the case of ‘Stark Raving Dad,’ the Season 3 episode featuring Michael Jackson. That episode was removed from circulation after allegations against Jackson gained renewed attention. Al Jean, a longtime Simpsons showrunner, explained to The Daily Beast in 2019 that Jackson’s episode was particularly problematic due to rumours that the singer used his guest role to “groom boys.”

However, there are notable differences between the two cases. Jackson’s alleged actions were directly tied to his appearance on the show, as his guest role was central to the plot. In contrast, Gaiman’s role in ‘The Book Job’, while substantial for a guest star, is secondary to the episode’s main story.

New York Magazine reports that Gaiman covered his tracks with his public persona and even presented himself as some kind of smiling teddy bear who is harmless. This persona is on full display in his Simpsons appearance.
