Delhi’s air quality remains in ‘severe’ zone

On Friday morning, Delhi’s air quality was at a “serious” level. The city’s lowest temperature is expected to be 6 degrees Celsius and the highest temperature is 24 degrees Celsius. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Commission, the hourly air quality index (AQI) at 7 am is 433. The 24-hour average AQI on Thursday was 423.

AQI between 0 and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 are considered “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 are “medium”, 201 and 300 are “poor”, and 301 and 400 are “very bad” , 401 and 500 are “serious”.

On Thursday, the Air Quality and Weather Forecast and Research System stated that due to insufficient ventilation and a relative humidity of up to 50%, AQI was in the “very poor” to “severe” category. “Similar circumstances will further increase the AQI on the 24th (Friday). Increased ventilation, mixing and humid conditions will lower the AQI after December 25 (Saturday).”
