Despite the second Covid wave, highway construction at 28 km per day in April

More than 28 kilometers of national highways have been constructed every day amid the rapid spread of corona infection in the country. A record 853 km of national highways were built in April, the first month of the current financial year.

Thus, the government was successful in constructing 28 km daily highway between Corona epidemic last month.

A senior official of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that a record 853 km of national highways have been constructed in the month of April. Last year, only 260 km of highways were built in this period.

Similarly, 311 km of National Highway projects have been awarded in the first month of the current financial year in April. The figure was 265 last year. The official said that this time the central government has not decided for full ban (100% lockdown). And the state governments are also benefiting from the decision of partial closure.

The road transport ministry has set an ambitious target of constructing 40 km per day highway in the current financial year 2021-22 amid the epidemic. That is, the ministry will construct 14,600 km of highways within a year.

In fact, the Ministry has achieved the target of constructing 36.4 km per day highway in the first wave of Corona in the last financial year (April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021). Whereas in 2020, due to the complete ban in the country for two months, all commercial and construction activities were completely stalled.

The Adani Enterprises unit has received a letter of approval for an NH project in Maharashtra

Adani Road Transport Ltd (ARTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, has received LoA for a project involving six laning of Kagal-Satara section of NH-48 (old NH4) in Maharashtra. The project will be executed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana at ₹2,008.47 crores. The construction period for the 67-km long road project is expected to be 2 years from the date of appointment and the concession period will be 18 years.

With this project award, Adani’s road portfolio will have total 14 projects with more than 5,000 lane km with asset value exceeding ₹41,000 crore spread across India.
