Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the intensive care unit at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai last week after testing positive for COVID-19 and is currently being treated in the intensive care unit, said Dr Pratit Samdani from Breach Candy Hospital. “She continues to be in intensive care and is being treated,” The 92-year-old singer was also diagnosed with pneumonia. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the singer responded to the “fake news” of the singer’s deteriorating condition, saying in a statement: “It’s disturbing to see fake news circulating. Please note that Lata DiDi is stable. Continued in intensive care. Get treatment. A capable doctor, please pray for her to go home soon.

Last week, Rachana Shah, the veteran singer’s niece, said Thursday that the singer was doing well and asked the media to respect the family’s privacy.

The musical gem of Lata Mangeshkar needs no introduction. She has sung in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and other regional languages. She has won Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke awards as well as several national and film awards. Lata Mangeshkar’s last full album was Veer-Zaara, released in Bollywood in 2004.

The Telugu film Family Star, directed by Parasuram Petla, has collected an estimated ₹5.75 crore nett in India on its first day of box office collection, marking an impressive opening day for the film.

Family Star reported a 38.45% Telugu occupancy on day 1, with Warangal having the highest occupancy (57.5%), followed by Visakhapatnam and Kakinada (56.75% each).
