Do it for Virat Kohli: Suresh Raina’s message to Team India for T20 World Cup
The era of India’s T20I captain will end after the 2021 T20 World Cup, as Virat Kohli will step down in order to focus more on hitting and managing his workload. Keeping this development in mind, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina believes that this is an excellent opportunity for the Indian team to win their first ICC title and kick off his T20 captain style.
So far, the Delhi batsman has led 45 T20 international matches and has a 27-14 win-loss record.
He took the reins from former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni in 2016, who served as the Indian captain in 72 games. Under his leadership, the team won 41 games and lost 28 games. “For India, the message of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is very simple-do it for Virat Kohli. This may be the last time he will participate in this game as a captain, so let everyone believe that we can do it.
He is very important and let us support him,” Reina wrote in an ICC column. “For this reason, Indian fans can’t wait to wait for the start of the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. We have players, we have motivation – we just need to do it now,” Rainer explained. At the same time, Raina believes that Indian players participating in the IPL in the UAE can help them during the World Cup. “All of our players have just played the Indian Premier League in the UAE.
They played eight or nine games in this environment and played their best form. “This gives India an advantage over all other teams and makes them one of the favorites in my opinion to win the T20 World Cup,” he said. “The situation in the UAE is very similar to our games in India and Pakistan. This is a good opportunity for Asian teams to play natural games.”
