Farah Khan and Zoya Akhtar challenged the perception that female filmmakers primarily made art films, according to Divya Dutta.
It’s no secret that the film industry is a male-dominated field. For years, women have been fighting for their place in Hollywood, and while we’ve made some progress, there’s still a long way to go. In India, however, female filmmakers are starting to make a name for themselves.
Divya Dutta, an actress who has worked with both Farah Khan and Zoya Akhtar, says that these women are changing the perception of female filmmakers. “They’ve challenged the notion that female filmmakers primarily make art films,” she says. “They’re making mainstream cinema that’s entertaining and mass-appealing.”
Dutta says that Khan and Akhtar are two of the most talented and successful female filmmakers in India, and she’s proud to have worked with them. “They’re changing the game, and I hope their success inspires other women to pursue their dreams,” she says.
We need more female filmmakers in Hollywood, and in the rest of the world. We need their stories, their perspectives, and their talent. It’s time for Hollywood to wake up and take notice of the female filmmakers who are making waves all over the world.
