Five held for cheating people by promising jobs at Delhi airport
Five men have been arrested for defrauding others by promising jobs at Delhi Airport, police said on Friday, identifying Naveen Pathak, 30, and Kamal Sharma, 32, as the main accused.
Police said they received complaints in June that people had been scammed under the pretext of offering jobs at airlines and were asked to deposit funds in the name of security deposits.
Deputy Police Commissioner Sanjay Tyagi said they had opened a case and formed a team to investigate the matter. “During our investigation, we found several other people who were scammed under the same pretext and offered false jobs at the airline. These people also deposited money into bank accounts belonging to Kamal Sharma and Yogesh Sharma. The three accused, Subham Tiwari, Ajay Thakur and Himanshu Thakur were arrested earlier in June,” Tyagi said.
He added that the three, named Naveen Pathak, were arrested on January 9. “During further interrogation, he told us that he provided Himanshu Thakur and other defendants with around 15 bank accounts to defraud job applicants. Furthermore, according to information provided by Pathak, the main account holder Kamal was arrested in Aligarh.” Police said Kamal Sharma had nine bank accounts that Pathak had access to, and the money they asked job applicants to deposit was transferred to the bank accounts of the other defendants.
