‘If I was coach, I would get rid of…’: Brett Lee busts fast bowling myths, says ‘bowlers are now wrapped in cotton wool’
Former Australian pacemaker Brett Lee has made an interesting observation about modern fast hands, claiming that bowlers are overly reliant on technology these days.
Lee, who spoke on Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel, also said that if he were a coach, the first thing he would do is get rid of the computer.
The 45-year-old, who was recently seen rolling his arms in the League of Legends cricket, has also busted the myth that bowlers are less prone to injury if they bowl less.
“If I were a coach, I’d get rid of the computer. Let them focus on sprinting and more bowling. Bowlers are bowling too few balls now. The theory that bowling less and you won’t be hurt is false, in fact it’s the opposite, ” Lee said.
Lee then highlighted what the bowlers need to deal with before expressing his disappointment with the current situation.
“You have to bowl more, strengthen your body, get used to running in and out. If someone asked me to finish 24 balls and take a break, I’d laugh at them, but that’s where we’re at right now. Bowlers are getting wrapped up. The cotton content is too much,” he further said.
Both Lee and Akhtar set the standard for aggressive fast bowling in the early 2000s. The former striker has also won the World Cup with over 300 wickets each in the Test and Over-50s.
