India, Bhutan sign MoU to boost environmental cooperation

India and Bhutan today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop cooperation between the two countries in the field of environment.

The MoU was signed by Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change from the Indian side and Lyonpo Dr. Tandi Dorji, the Foreign Minister and Chairman of the National Environment Commission, from the Bhutanese side.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Javadekar said that this MoU will open new dimensions of bilateral cooperation in the field of climate change, waste management etc.

Describing the ties between the two countries as symbolic, he said India wanted to engage with Bhutan on environmental issues, including climate change.

This MoU is a platform to further enhance Indian and Bhutanese partnership and support, exchange of best practices in areas such as air pollution prevention, waste management, chemical management, climate change etc.

It also offers the possibility of joint projects in areas of mutual interest.

The MoU will also strengthen technical, scientific and management capabilities and expand areas of cooperation in the field of environment to promote mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.

The Adani Enterprises unit has received a letter of approval for an NH project in Maharashtra

Adani Road Transport Ltd (ARTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, has received LoA for a project involving six laning of Kagal-Satara section of NH-48 (old NH4) in Maharashtra. The project will be executed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana at ₹2,008.47 crores. The construction period for the 67-km long road project is expected to be 2 years from the date of appointment and the concession period will be 18 years.

With this project award, Adani’s road portfolio will have total 14 projects with more than 5,000 lane km with asset value exceeding ₹41,000 crore spread across India.
