Indian Railways installs 130 kWp solar panels in Vijayawada station

Indian Railways is working on new innovations. Recently, many inventions have been seen in the railways, which are not only making the travel experience better for the passengers.

Now the railway has done a similar experiment at Vijayawada station, which is really surprising. This will not only increase the savings of the railways but will also give a pleasant experience to the customers.

Now Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has given this information through Twitter and has told about this unique platform of India.

Actually, instead of shelters, solar panels are installed on the platform at this station. Through these solar panels, electricity is made through solar energy, and passengers are also made shelters from this panel.

By the way, this experiment done at Vijayawada station is quite innovative. Now, this is the first station, where such shelters have been built, from which electricity is also being generated. These panels generate electricity up to 130 kWp capacity.

According to the information given by the Railway Minister, the Vijayawada station is the first station in India, where solar photovoltaic cover-over-platforms have been made.

The Railway Minister said that Rs 8.1 lakh will be saved annually and it will meet the 18 percent power requirement of the station.

Also, it will act as a shelter on the platform. You can guess from the pictures how it is made.

These are BIPV solar roofs, from which electricity will also be generated. With this, 2.2 lakh units will be made every year, which will benefit the railways with lakhs of rupees.

Earlier in December 2019, 65 KwP capacity panels were installed in platform 4 and 5 of the station and now this innovation has been done on other platforms as well.
