Initial reviews of James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water praise it as a masterpiece and compare it favourably to part 1
Avatar: The Way of Water is the long-awaited sequel to 2009’s Avatar, and it does not disappoint. The film is a visual masterpiece, with stunning CGI and James Cameron’s trademark attention to detail. The story picks up years after the events of the first film, and follows Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) as he tries to find his place in the world of the Na’vi.
The film has been praised for its positive portrayal of indigenous peoples, and for its message of environmentalism. Some have criticised the film for its length (it is nearly three hours long), but others have said that it is a worthy successor to the first film.
Avatar: The Way of Water is a must-see for fans of the first film, and is sure to be one of the biggest films of the year.
