The Government of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) plans to build 4,500 km of roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) plan in the fiscal year 2222.
The construction of new roads is expected to connect the new 150 settlements across the state with basic road facilities. The report says the government has also set a goal of completing work on 14 bridges.
To improve road connectivity and bridge construction, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has allocated 4,089 crore as annual budget during 2021-22 for the area of roads and bridges in Jammu and Kashmir.
The official report indicates that the allocation is Rs 467 million more than the previous year’s budget allocation for the region. The largest allocation for the area of roads and bridges has been made when most of the roads in cities and towns have become potholed.
