Kangana Ranaut goes atomic in her first spy action thriller, Dhaakad

The trailer of Kangana Ranaut’s new action thriller Dhaakad was unveiled on Friday afternoon. The film marks Kangana’s foray into the spy thriller genre. In the film, Kangana plays a spy named Agent Agni, who is a master of disguise and adept at combat.

Agent Agni is on a mission when the trailer begins. What follows is a slick nighttime action scene. Kangana slings guns, punches bad guys, and brings them down. She is then given a new mission and a new villain to take down: Arjun Rampal’s mining mafia. Agni kills men and even a few blonde hench-women with wigs, makeup, and her deadly fighting skills.

Soon, fight scenes take over the trailer, with some more neon-soaked cinematography. There are mentions of a brutal past that Agni has still not left behind and how fire for vengeance still burns in her. Reports have stated that Kangana will be sporting seven different looks in the film.

The teaser had received praise from India and abroad, with one critic calling her better than Charlize Theron. In the past, Kangana has spoken about how she has intended the film to be of international standards.

Family Star review

The Hindustan Times’ review of the movie Family Star, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Parasuram Petla, suggests that the film struggles to make a mark or entertain, with issues reminiscent of Geetha Govindam (2018). The film tests patience and fails to maintain interest as it progresses.

The review criticizes the plot of Family Star, stating that it is thin and defies logic, making it difficult to enjoy. It also suggests that the film’s portrayal of middle-class life is caricaturish, as if it was written by someone unfamiliar with the realities of such a life.
