Former Sri Lankan player on Indian batters facing Wanindu Hasaranga: “Sanju Samson can’t choose him, Hardik Pandya not confident”
The Indian cricket team is currently in Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series. The first Test match ended in a draw, with the second Test currently underway. The third and final Test will be played next week.
One of the key players for Sri Lanka in the series has been Wanindu Hasaranga. The 23-year-old spinner has been in excellent form, taking nine wickets in the first Test match.
Hasaranga has caused problems for the Indian batsmen, with many of them struggling to score runs off him. One player who has struggled in particular is Sanju Samson.
The Kerala batsman was dismissed for a duck in the first innings of the first Test, and was forced to retire hurt in the second innings after being hit on the helmet by a Hasaranga delivery.
Speaking to the Indian Express, former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan said that Samson “cannot choose” Hasaranga.
“He (Hasaranga) has been bowling well. Sanju Samson cannot choose him, he has to play him. Even Hardik Pandya is not confident against him,” Muralitharan said.
