One of the most beautiful railway routes in the country during the monsoon season is the Konkan Railway, which has been troubled by its complications from the beginning. A running train running on the slopes and heights of the mountains, sometimes happens due to incidents like slipping of rocks, and sometimes falling of trees on the track.

This 741 km route, which takes care of itself in every trouble, has always stood itself apart. Now it is a matter of happiness that when trains pass through green rocks on the route of Konkan Railway, then the smoke emanating from the diesel engine will not suffocate the trees dancing in the air.

It is being told that by December this year, power lines will be pulled on the entire route and trains will run at the speed of the current.

In the last year, while the running of trains has reduced, the work of strengthening the infrastructure has accelerated. In such a situation, the electrification of Indian Railways has also gained momentum.

The 741 km route of Konkan Railway is one of the largest stretches of Indian Railways which is being electrified. Chairman Railway Board Sunit Sharma said that the electrification work is progressing at a brisk pace and will be completed by December.

Apart from the electrification of the Konkan Railway, infrastructure strengthening work has been done at many places across the country during the lockdown. Curves have been removed in many places, while yard work has been done in many places.

New line, gauge conversion or doubling work has been done on 2369 route km in 2020-21. During this, electrification took place on 6015 km route and electric locomotives started running.

CRB Sunit Sharma said that there were many such works, which could have taken long blocks to complete, that were completed during the lockdown.
