The truth behind How licorice (Mulethi) help China to control coronavirus cases
The whole world is struggling to eradicate coronavirus altogether. And, some have been partially successful. One of the countries that are showing remarkable results with novel viruses is the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, China. And, its secret for controlling coronovirus outbreaks lies in traditional Chinese medicine cones. Licorice or Mullaithi helped China reduce the number of COVID-19 patients.
According to a study recently published in the journal Lancet, congestion with licorice extract as the main component helped confirm 102 demonstrated mild symptoms in coronavirus-infected patients. Additionally, it was found that licorice conifers work effectively and quickly compared to antivirals. CT scans showed that patients had a negative presence of SARS-CoV-2 coronaviruses after consuming a fixed number of liquorice conch shells for several days.
Study results showed that licorice extracts can significantly inhibit the replication of new coronaviruses. Specifically, licorice is a flowering plant that contains a compound called liquiditin. It is this that prevents replication of the virus.
This is not the first time that licorice has shown positive results in the treatment of a disease. It is a centuries-old herb that is still used as a home remedy for many health-related issues. The chewing licorice stick is known to provide relief from sore throat, cough, bronchitis and even asthma. Daily use of liquorice can increase your immunity by increasing the production of lymphocytes and macrophages.
Even if you have digestive problems, you can consume licorice conifer as it contains compounds called glycyrrhizin and carbenoxolone. They are known for treating stomach problems, heartburn, constipation, acidity etc. Licorice has anti-inflammatory properties that can relieve arthritis by reducing the effects of free radicals and inflammation in the body. Women experiencing menopausal symptoms may consume this herb as its phytoestrogenic compounds can control hormonal imbalances and reduce symptoms including insomnia, sweating, mood changes, hot flashes, etc.
