My first pay was ₹500 and all I had to do was standing beneath the tree and smile: Vidya Balan

With the arrival of the trailer of Vidya Balan’s movie “Sherni”, her look and acting have once again come into the limelight. Last year too, her film Shakuntala had rocked OTT.

Vidya has recently revealed her first salary and first job. Vidya’s first job was to stand near a tree.

Vidya told that her first work was not for any film or show. It was a promotional campaign of the state tourism department and she got Rs 500 for it.

Vidya told Zoom in an interview, “My first-ever salary was Rs 500 for a state tourism campaign. Four of us – my sister, me, and a cousin and a friend, I think went along – and each of us got paid 500 bucks. We had to just stand beside a tree, and just smile.”

Vidya started her career in 1995 with Ekta Kapoor’s comedy show Hum Paanch. Although she had started working long before that.

Vidya told that she went with her mother and sister for her first TV audition. The show was- La Bella which was never released.

Vidya’s film Sherni is releasing this week on Amazon Prime.

Ali Fazal to star with Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Rule Breakers, directed by Bill Guttentag, exploring resilience in Afghanistan, set for March 2025 release.

Ali Fazal is set to star alongside master writer and Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Rule Breakers. Rule Breakers, directed by two time Oscar winner Bill Guttentag, explores themes of resilience and defiance in Afghanistan. The film is set for a release in March 2025.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a British actor, writer, and producer known for her sharp wit and unique storytelling. She created and starred in the acclaimed TV series Fleabag, which won multiple awards and resonated widely for its dark humour and raw honesty. Waller-Bridge also contributed to Killing Eve, showcasing her knack for complex, unpredictable female characters.

Ali Zafar is the busiest Indian actor in Hollywood, having starred in Fast and Furious franchise, Victoria and Abdul, Death on the Nile and Kandahar. In India, he will be seen in the Mirzapur movie soon.
