Pixel 6 Ghost Calling Random Contacts Due to Reported Google Assistant Bug, Fix Coming Soon

According to reports, Pixel 6 users have encountered a new call error that automatically makes calls to random users in the contact list. The report indicates that Google Assistant may be the culprit for this problem faced by early adopters, and it also provides a temporary fix to prevent unauthorized automatic calls. Users call this phenomenon a ghost call or a phantom call. Google is also aware of this problem and said it is working hard to fix it.

The problem is obviously due to the fact that Google Assistant misheard the trigger phrase “Hey Google” plus improper audio processing and misunderstood the command to call someone. A user on Reddit reported this ghost phone issue on Pixel 6, detailing that the phone called “a friend I have never called before” in the early morning without any prompts.

The other time happened at night, when the user was reading a book, and the room was silent. According to reports, the Pixel 6 faces down, and users will realize when they hear the tone during a call. It is said that this phone has a phantom calling the user’s friend in Europe. 9to5Google even shared a video in which the Google Assistant spontaneously makes a call on the Pixel 6 without any triggering command.

Most users who reported phantom call problems said that they never said the hot word “Hey Google” and did not ask to call any contacts. According to reports, this problem can be resolved by restarting, albeit temporarily.

If you want to prevent the Google Assistant from making any accidental calls when the phone is locked, users can disable “Assistant response on lock screen” in “Settings”. Go to “Settings”> “Google Assistant”> “Lock Screen”> “Assistant Response on Lock Screen”.

As mentioned earlier, Google confirmed to 9to5Google that it is aware of this problem and is working to fix it. This problem is likely to be resolved in an upcoming update.

Surfaces of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra with Snapdragon 8S Gen 3

Early this week, renders of the Edge 50 Fusion appeared, and Motorola has previously stated that the Edge 50 Pro will ship on April 3. The highest-end smartphone in the Edge 50 series, the Edge 50 Ultra, has now been shown in renders.

The phone is depicted in the renderings in peach fuzz and black with a vegan leather finish, while sisal, a beige color, will have a brushed surface. As opposed to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the Pro variant and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in the Edge 50 Fusion, the phone is reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.

A 50MP primary camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a periscope telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom are all included in the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra’s feature set. Additionally, there is a triple LED flash on the right side and a laser autofocus feature above the periscope lens.

Although the phone’s display, battery, and charging specifications are yet unknown, the Edge 50 Pro is said to include 12GB of RAM and support both 50W and 125W wired and wireless charging.

It is anticipated that this will launch as the Motorola X50 Ultra in China. It is unclear if the India launch may be expected on the same day as the rest of the Edge 50 series phones, even if this is scheduled to go official on April 3.
