JAGANNATH TEMPLE, Puri to remain closed for the public till June 15 as COVID cases rise
In view of the increase in corona virus cases in Odisha and Puri, the administration of Lord Jagannath Temple in Tirtha Nagri on Sunday announced that this 12th century temple will remain closed for devotees till June 15. The temple has been closed for devotees since May 5 due to the Odisha government implementing a lockdown in the state.
In a review meeting chaired by Dr. Krishna Kumar, Chief Administrator of Shri Jagannath Temple Administration, it has been decided to keep the temple closed till June 15. Puri District Magistrate Samarth Verma was also present in this meeting.
According to the Health Ministry in Odisha, 11,732 new cases of corona virus have been reported in the state on Sunday and 19 deaths have been recorded in a day. The total corona infected patients in the state has increased to 6,12,224. A total of 2,313 people have died so far.
