Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: An incredibly heartfelt farewell to James Gunn’s heroes

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is an emotional farewell. Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 3 is a farewell movie directed by James Gunn, one of the most distinctive voices in the MCU. It features numerous nods, winks, cameos, and callbacks to the previous two movies, providing a grand, fitting farewell to the characters. Gunn also slams a racist remark on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 villain casting. The Guardians live on Knowhere, a giant planet made of a dead God’s head. The group is led by Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Groot (Groot), Drax ( Dave Bautista), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Nebula (Karen Gillian), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), and Cosmo (telekinetic Russian space dog). Nebula is the newest official member of the team, and Gunn approaches the situation with sincerity.

Quill is still pining over Gamora, who died in Avengers: Infinity War. Vol 3 is a Rocket origin story, where the gang must track down the creator of the Guardians, the High Evolutionary, to save him. It is revealed that every member of the Guardians has a father-person, except for Drax and Groot. The Guardians movies have always had a focus on pain, which is evident in the emotional core of Vol 3’s Rocket. In one flashback scene, Rocket collapses in pain next to his lab rats, and the VFX artist responsible for working on his eyes deserves a raise and a hug. This is an inspired move, as it allows Vol 3 to pack an emotional wallop and go to surprisingly dark territory.

Gunn’s third chapter of the Guardians movies cements the MCU’s distinct and delightfulness, as well as its ability to use the Marvel machinery for real creativity and imagination. Gunn’s unique brand of wacky, goofy and zany superheroes adds depth and humor to the story. In Vol 3, there is a scene where Rocket stares at trapped animal test subjects in cages, reminding us that time stands still despite the chaos. Gunn’s Guardians travel to a space station made of living tissue, where the surface is squidgy and fleshy. The director’s dedication to silliest gags such as Cosmo demanding to be called a good dog and a security officer talking about his second in-command’s stupidity gets you every time.

The High Evolutionary and Mantis both have moments of tragedy and comedy, but lack the full weight of a sequence. Mantis’ showdown with Nebula is also notable for its lack of earntness. Gunn’s Vol 3 is a high-stakes action movie with genuine ingenuity, featuring slow-mo entry shots and a fun one-take fight scene with deformed animal experiments.James Gunn’s film ends with a flashback montage of the Guardians, Rocket, Mantis, and Baby Groot, all of whom have played an important role in saving the galaxy. James Gunn has managed to cut through the Marvel machinery in a unique moment, providing a sense of an ending to the Marvel franchise.

Family Star review

The Hindustan Times’ review of the movie Family Star, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Parasuram Petla, suggests that the film struggles to make a mark or entertain, with issues reminiscent of Geetha Govindam (2018). The film tests patience and fails to maintain interest as it progresses.

The review criticizes the plot of Family Star, stating that it is thin and defies logic, making it difficult to enjoy. It also suggests that the film’s portrayal of middle-class life is caricaturish, as if it was written by someone unfamiliar with the realities of such a life.
