Serbia demands Australia to stop treating Djokovic as ‘criminal’

Serbian Foreign Minister Nemanja Starovic asked Australia to move the world’s number one Novak Djokovic to a better hotel because the defending Australian Open champion remained in immigration detention after his visa was cancelled center.

This request was a real waiver after Victoria’s Acting Prime Minister Jacinta Allen revealed that the Australian Tennis Association had not notified the government of Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s government letter.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Starovic said in a statement: “We hope that the ambassador will take action personally to allow him to move to a residence suitable for the best athletes in the world, not criminals or illegal immigrants.”

Starovic also said that the Serbian people believe that Djokovic has become a victim of the Australian political game.

Djokovic won his court bid on Thursday and was therefore not immediately expelled, which allowed the defending Australian Open champion to stay in Melbourne at least until Monday. Djokovic decided to challenge Australia’s cancellation of his visa. After he had to be detained at Melbourne Airport for eight hours, he decided to fight it, but there he presented his case to border officials, but was unsuccessful.

Australian Health Minister Greg Hunter confirmed that Australia cancelled the entry visa of the world’s number one Novak Djokovic on Thursday. Earlier, Djokovic landed in Australia to participate in the Australian Open on the grounds of medical exemption. The specific vaccine exemption cited by Djokovic caused great controversy and aroused strong opposition from the Australian public.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Thursday that Djokovic is not an exception and the same rules apply to everyone.
