Singhu border killing case: Court sends 3 accused to 6-day police custody

This happened after Nihang Sikh, Narayan Singh was arrested by Punjab police on Saturday for allegedly killing Lakhbir Singh, a farm worker at the Singhu border. On Sunday, the Sonipat Court sent three defendants in the New Lake border homicide case to police custody for 6 days.

In this case, the dismembered body of a man was found hanging on the scene of a farmer’s protest. The defendants were identified as Narayan Singh, Bhagwant Singh and Govind Preet Singh. The police demanded that the defendant be detained for 14 days. They argued in the court that they needed to identify the other accomplices in the case.

The three of them knew only by their faces and needed to retrieve some blood-stained clothes when they committed the crime. They added that because of other arrests in the case, the defendant must be taken elsewhere.

Apart from conducting an in-depth interrogation of the defendant on the entire incident, the police also sought to reconstruct the crime scene. One SIT led by IPS officer Mayank Gupta will investigate incident videos circulating on various social media platforms, while the other will be led by Deputy Sheriff Sonipat. According to reports, Virender Singh will conduct a full investigation of the incident. This happened after Nihang Sikh, Narayan Singh was arrested by Punjab police on Saturday for allegedly killing Lakhbir Singh, a farm worker at the Singhu border.

At a farmer’s protest site in Kundli near the Delhi-Haryana border, a man was lynched and his hand was chopped off. There were more than 10 wounds on his body. These wounds were made by sharp weapons tied to the roadblock. Caused, this terrible incident was blamed on a group of Nigerian Airlines. A few hours after the incident, a man wearing the blue robe of the Sikh Nihang Order appeared in front of the media, claiming that he had “punished” the victims of “desecration” of the Sikh sacred book. Although the police stated that the man had been arrested and was being questioned, other Nihangs claimed that he had “surrendered” to the police.

“Sarabjit Singh, the son of Kashmir Singh, a resident of Vitwha , Gurdaspur District, Punjab, has been arrested,” a police officer said. He informed that, during the preliminary interrogation, Sarabjit claimed that he could not tolerate “Profanity”. The victim’s family questioned the assailant’s claim that he committed blasphemy and requested a high-level investigation. The body of Lakhbir Singh was cremated on Saturday night in the presence of his family at his home village in Tarn Taran, Punjab.
