The Way of Water filmmaker James Cameron on his return: “Steven Spielberg didn’t do ET sequel.”
James Cameron, the mastermind behind some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, including Avatar and Titanic, has never been one to shy away from a challenge. So, when he set out to make a sequel to his iconic film The Way of Water, he knew he had to go big or go home.
Cameron’s return to the watery world of The Way of Water was no small feat – the film took over four years to make and cost a whopping $200 million. But, as Cameron is quick to point out, it was all worth it in the end.
“I think the movie is awesome,” Cameron said in a recent interview. “I think it’s better than the first one. I think Steven Spielberg didn’t do an ET sequel because he couldn’t top the original. I think we’ve topped the original.”
Cameron is no stranger to success, but even he admits that The Way of Water 2 is a special achievement.
