Twitter irked as ‘power issue’ halts Gabba Test after no-ball fiasco

Due to “power issues”, global broadcast coverage of the first Ashes Test held at Gabba was suspended, which aroused the outrage of fans on social media, especially after the ball-free defeat on the second day of the series opener. After an interruption of about half an hour, the report resumed.

“There is a power issue that has affected Gabba’s broadcasting compound, resulting in a decline in world feed, and all the resulting technologies are not working properly,” a spokesperson for the Australian cricket team said. “This problem is being solved, and the goal is to get everything up and running as soon as possible.”

During the suspension period, not only did the big screens in the stadium malfunction, but the DRS technology was also unavailable during the suspension period, which placed the blame on the referees on the court. This resulted in the failure to check the forefoot pitch of England all-around player Ben Stokes.

Of the 14 off-the-ball pitches Stokes made, only one was called-his pitch disrupted David Warner’s carpentry. After Warner was fired, the TV referee checked the front foot and found that Stokes had crossed the line, which eventually led to the collapse of social media.

Cricket Australia also notified that due to COVID-19 “border restrictions”, RTS’s “Snicko” technology could no longer be used for testing.

The opening test was eventually won by the host. Nathan Lyon, Captain Pat Cummins and Travis Hyde were outstanding performers on the Australian team. Cummins scored five points in the first game, and then Lyon scored four points in the second game, setting a goal of 20 points for Australia to lead 1-0 in the series. Earlier, Hyde scored 152 points and David Warner scored 94 points, helping the Australian score 425 points on the scoreboard.
