UP Polls: Akhilesh Yadav slams BJP, says ‘selling nation to private sector’

On Thursday, former Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Akilesh Yadav accused the BJP-led central government of “selling the country to the private sector” as he ramped up his attacks during the campaign.
At an election rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district, the former Unionist chief minister, who has become the BJP’s main challenger, said the “cold and docile” BJP was afraid and reluctant to serve the state and the country for unemployed youth Provides jobs, “so it sells everything to the private sector”. Akhilesh Yadav also promised “police job opportunities” to the people of Uttar Pradesh.

“The BJP sells everything to the private sector, so they don’t want to create jobs. When the Samajwadi government is formed, we will publicize vacancies in the police force and create jobs,” he was quoted as saying by ANI news agency.

Akhilesh Yadav added: “After four rounds of voting, the BJP has become aloof and weak.” Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has also repeatedly criticized the BJP government for its “sham” in UP work commitment”. “There are about 12,000 government vacancies and young people in Uttar Pradesh are still unemployed,” she said during Raebareli’s campaign on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is campaigning for privatisation, said many PSUs (public sector units) are losing money and are being funded by taxpayers. “Tax support for ailing PSUs is a drag on the economy and support should not be sought just because of legacy issues,” he told a Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) webinar on privatisation on Thursday. The sector brings efficiency and creates jobs. He was quoted by the PTI news agency as saying that funds for privatization and monetization of assets will be used openly.
Voting in Uttar Pradesh takes place in four of the seven stages of the general election. Elections for the remaining three phases will be held on February 27, March 3 and March 7. Ballots will be counted on March 10.

Family Star review

The Hindustan Times’ review of the movie Family Star, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Parasuram Petla, suggests that the film struggles to make a mark or entertain, with issues reminiscent of Geetha Govindam (2018). The film tests patience and fails to maintain interest as it progresses.

The review criticizes the plot of Family Star, stating that it is thin and defies logic, making it difficult to enjoy. It also suggests that the film’s portrayal of middle-class life is caricaturish, as if it was written by someone unfamiliar with the realities of such a life.
