With a desire to win a trophy at Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo puts an end to transfer speculations, saying, “It’s hard to compete with Al-Hilal but.”

Cristiano Ronaldo said it’s not easy in the Saudi Pro league to compete with the likes of Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but he is determined to win more titles.
Portugal star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a hint that he won’t be leaving Al-Nassr anytime soon and is determined to win the trophy with the Saudi Pro League club. The 39-year-old’s contract at Al-Nassar will expire at the end of the season, and the speculations are rife that he might be searching for a new club for his next challenge in the winter transfer window.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner said that he is enjoying his life in Saudi and his family is also happy there.

“I’m happy and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country. Life is good, football is good. In terms of individual and collective, we are still there. We are still improving,” Ronaldo told the Saudi Pro League’s official media channels.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has failed to replicate the same success from his previous clubs at Al-Nassr in terms of silverware and said it’s not easy in the Saudi Pro league to compete with the likes of Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but he is determined to win more titles.

“It’s hard to compete with teams like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but we are still there, still pushing and fighting. Football is like that; you have good moments and bad moments. But, for me, the most important thing is to be professional, to push hard, respect the club, respect your contract and believe that things will change – for Al Nassr to try to win more titles,” he added.

The 39-year-old joined Al Nassr in December 2022 during the winter transfer window from Manchester United.

Ronaldo’s second spell at United ended in November 2022 following an explosive TV interview with presenter and journalist Piers Morgan. United terminated Ronaldo’s contract with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who was critical of the Glazer family owners, the standard of facilities at the club, and then-manager Erik Ten Hag.

He has said that AFC Champions League is the one trophy on which he has set his eyes on.

“The [AFC] Champions League is something I want to win for the club. But the most important is to keep pushing and be professional,” he added.

Sania Mirza has a lot on her plate after being appointed as Dubai’s Sports Ambassador. With a career as prolific as hers, her journey would certainly be inspiring for many people, if made into a film.

But we are yet to see one materialise on Mirza’s life. She says there has been interest showed, “A biopic has been on the cards, a lot of people have been talking about it. But I haven’t had offers of late, unless my managers have not told me about any!”

While work goes on, with Mirza also managing her tennis academies, it didn’t prevent her from ringing in the New Year with her ‘forever date’, as she captioned her picture with her six-year-old, lovingly called Izzu.

We ask her about life as a single mother. “No matter what I do in my life, my son Izhaan is always going to be my priority. Even amongst my professional commitments, he will remain that. That doesn’t mean I don’t do other things. I try to revolve my stuff around Izhaan as much as I can,” says the 38-year-old, who became a mother in 2018.

“I also try to not leave him too much, at max maybe one-two nights if I have to travel for work. All of it works itself out. I try to find a balance,” she adds. Being a busy public figure also means that she is constantly in the public eye.

Doing and saying the right thing in her life must be a pressure. Does Mirza feel it? “Being famous or not comes with it’s own set of challenges. More than the pressure, I feel a sense of responsibility. I feel there are so many kids who look up to you, so you have a certain sense of responsibility about how you conduct yourself. I try to be myself as much as I can in the public eye. I feel humbled and honoured to be in this position. I speak from my heart,” she quips.
