Delhi Metro Launches Free Wi-Fi Services at Yellow Line Metro Stations: How to Use
Commuters on the Delhi Metro can now use free high-speed Wi-Fi to access the Internet at all its yellow line stations, as the DMRC launched the facility on Sunday. Officials said that Delhi Metro is working with a technical consortium to introduce this facility into metro trains (besides the Airport Express Line) within a year.
In January 2020, the urban transport company introduced high-speed Wi-Fi facilities in train cars on the airport line connecting New Delhi and Dwarka Sector 21 stations. This is the first such facility in any country in South Asia. The 22.7 km most luxurious line on the Delhi Metro network has six stations-New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Aerocity, IGI Airport and Dwarka Sector 21.
The coronavirus pandemic hit the capital in March 2020, and Delhi’s metro service was suspended for a long time due to its impact. “The DMRC on a trial-basis had introduced free Wi-Fi service in the trains of its Airport Line, which were suspended due to COVID-induced constraints in 2020, and are now in the process of being restored within the next 10-15 days time,” the DMRC said in a statement.
In order to continuously improve the travel experience of commuters, Delhi Metro has successfully introduced free high-speed Wi-Fi services at all subway stations on the Yellow Line or Line 2 (from Samaypur Badli to HUDA City Center). , Officials said, adding that efforts are being made to expand the facility to stations in other corridors of the network.
DMRC stated that the high-speed service on this yellow line will prove to be a special boon for students travelling to and from the University of Delhi North Delhi campus. This service coincides with the opening of this line of 37 subway stations during the holiday season, mainly operating underground, passing through one of the most crowded areas in the city, covering officials outside Delhi, northern Delhi, central Delhi and southern Delhi We say, the last is Gurgaon. DMRC stated that more than 330 access points have been installed at these 37 stations to provide unexplained Internet access for commuters.
The statement said that in addition to providing free Wi-Fi in subway stations on its network, DMRC and Techno Sat Comm are also working hard to introduce this facility in subway trains within a year.
