Covid +ve Passengers Won’t Leave, Cruise Ship In Goa Sails Back To Mumbai
According to the PTI news agency this morning, a cruise ship has returned to Mumbai from a port in Goa. Yesterday, 66 of the more than 2,000 people on board tested positive for COVID-19. Several infected passengers refused to leave the Cordelia cruise ship and were quarantined at a medical facility in Goa.
An official from a shipping agency told PTI that the infected passengers will stay on board. An official said that after a crew member was found to be positive on Sunday, all passengers were tested.
Shipping company JM Baxi and Co operations manager Govind Pernulkar said that after 27 positive passengers refused to leave the cruise ship, the ship was sent back to Mumbai at 11:30 last night-from where it set sail for the New Year party.
“After some passengers who tested positive refused to enter the COVID-19 facility in Goa, the ship had to be sent back. Out of all 66 crew members who tested positive, only 6 crew members left the cruise ship in Goa. “Mr. Pernulkar said.
He said that after taking into account the situation, the Goa Southern Regional Government ordered the ship to be sent back to Mumbai along with all its passengers. “Passengers who were transferred to the quarantine facility were taken back to the ship before heading to Mumbai. Passengers will be quarantined on the ship,” he said.
This cruise ship was carrying a large group of passengers, who came to celebrate the New Year under the threat of Omicron. Cordelia was the same cruise ship that was raided by Narcotics Enforcement Administration officials last year on suspicion of drug trafficking. In this case, actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan and others were named.
This coastal state’s popular beaches are crowded with tourists during the New Year, and there is concern that this will lead to a surge in COVID-19 cases. In neighboring states such as Maharashtra and Delhi, COVID-19 cases have increased.
