Crane falls from 40ft height at B’luru metro site; workers unhurt
On Sunday, a crane fell from a height of 40 feet on a construction site, and several construction workers involved in the Namma Metro rail project in Bangalore nearly escaped.
The incident occurred during the construction of the elevated subway from RV Road to Bommasandra, and the subway and highway flyover from Ragi Gudda to Silk Board.
Speaking of this incident, a BMRCL official stated that at about 6:25 am on Sunday morning, a launching girder at a metro construction site near Udupi Garden Signal in the second phase of the BTM layout “stopped” on the subway terminal instead of leaning against it. Support your own legs.
Officials from Bangalore Metro Rail Co. Ltd. (BMRCL) attributed it to a mechanical failure. BMRCL said in a statement that there were no reports of casualties after the incident. “At around 6:15 in the morning on October 24, the BTM deployed the launching girder near the Udupi Garden signal in Phase II, and launched automatically instead of relying on its own legs to support it and leaning on the dock. Preliminary investigations showed mechanical failure and zero casualties. The launching girder will be safely dismantled. Further action will be taken in accordance with the terms of the contract,” BMRCL said in a statement.
At around 6:30 in the morning, the machine joining the section suddenly broke and fell in the middle. The laborer under it escaped by a beard. Namma Metro MD Anjum Parvez told reporters: “This is the first time such an accident has occurred in the Namma Metro Phase II project. The damaged transmitter cannot be used again. Due to this incident, work may be delayed by two to three weeks. However, We will still try to complete the work on time. We have ordered an investigation into this accident.”
Last month, a landslide occurred in the Tannery Road from the Kottigere to Nagavara subway project site. The landowner accused BMRCL officials of being responsible for this incident.
