Samsung is beating Google at the Android ‘game’, here’s how

Android smartphone makers have lagged Apple for years in delivering regular software updates. Few brands promise more than three years of updates. Google’s Pixel line is an exception. However, Samsung can now claim to beat Google in delivering Android OS updates. During the launch of the Galaxy S22 series of smartphones, Samsung confirmed that its flagship phones will get four years of Android updates.
Samsung confirmed in a press release that it will provide users with “the latest, more secure mobile experience” by offering up to four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades on select Galaxy devices.
By comparison, Google’s Pixel 6 series offers “only” three years of Android updates. On the other hand, Apple is known to provide iOS updates for iPhones for at least 6 years.
Eligible Galaxy devices with four generations of One UI and five years of security updates include:
Galaxy S series: Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, S21 FE and upcoming S series devices
Galaxy Z series: Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3 and upcoming Z series devices
Galaxy A-Series: Featured upcoming A-Series devices
Galaxy Tablets: Galaxy Tab S8, S8+, S8 Ultra and upcoming Tab S series devices
Samsung also said it plans to expand this work across various product lines within the Galaxy ecosystem to offer Android OS upgrades via Samsung One UI.
In addition to offering extended One UI upgrades, Samsung will now offer up to five years of security updates on select Galaxy devices. These updates will provide Galaxy devices with more secure end-to-end protection against potential security threats. Additionally, Samsung Galaxy Enterprise customers will receive a one-year license for the Samsung Knox Suite solution to easily deploy and manage devices with access to a dashboard that tracks security updates and more.

Surfaces of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra with Snapdragon 8S Gen 3

Early this week, renders of the Edge 50 Fusion appeared, and Motorola has previously stated that the Edge 50 Pro will ship on April 3. The highest-end smartphone in the Edge 50 series, the Edge 50 Ultra, has now been shown in renders.

The phone is depicted in the renderings in peach fuzz and black with a vegan leather finish, while sisal, a beige color, will have a brushed surface. As opposed to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the Pro variant and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in the Edge 50 Fusion, the phone is reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.

A 50MP primary camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a periscope telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom are all included in the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra’s feature set. Additionally, there is a triple LED flash on the right side and a laser autofocus feature above the periscope lens.

Although the phone’s display, battery, and charging specifications are yet unknown, the Edge 50 Pro is said to include 12GB of RAM and support both 50W and 125W wired and wireless charging.

It is anticipated that this will launch as the Motorola X50 Ultra in China. It is unclear if the India launch may be expected on the same day as the rest of the Edge 50 series phones, even if this is scheduled to go official on April 3.
