Supreme Court’s Big Decision On BSIV Vehicle, These Buyers Will Be Able To Register
In March, the Supreme Court has given relief to people buying BS-IV vehicles. In fact, those who had not registered BS-IV vehicles before the March 31 deadline due to the lockdown, the court has given permission for registration.
The court said that only those BS-IV vehicles that were sold before lockdown would be registered and uploaded on the E vehicle portal. This means that the ban on registration of BS-IV vehicles sold after lockdown will remain intact.
In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had questioned the sale of BS-IV vehicles during the lockdown. The court said that in the last week of March, more vehicles were sold than usual, while there was a lockdown. Along with this, the Supreme Court had also asked for BS-IV vehicle sales figures in March.
Actually, the Supreme Court had fixed the deadline of 31 March 2020 for the sale and registration of BS-IV vehicles. In the meantime, there was a public curfew on 22 March, while a nationwide lockdown came into force from 25 March. Here dealers had a large number of BS-IV two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles left for sale. Therefore, the dealers reached the Supreme Court seeking to increase the deadline for the sale and registration of BS-IV vehicles.
On this, the Supreme Court gave permission to the dealers to sell 10 percent of BS-IV vehicles. After this, on July 8, the Supreme Court withdrew its March 27 order. After this decision of the court, registration of BS-IV vehicles sold after 31 March 2020 was banned. Now in the latest case, the Supreme Court has allowed the registration of vehicles sold before lockdown.
