Telangana government offices, educational institutes shut today
Although Hurricane Gurab weakened after the landfall process was completed, flash floods may still occur in several areas of Telangana. The continued rains in Telangana due to Hurricane Gurab prompted the state to close all government offices, schools and educational institutions on Tuesday. The decision was made two days after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao assessed the situation on Monday and instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to take all necessary precautions. “Due to the “Gulab” cyclone leading to continued rainfall in Telangana and the upcoming heavy rain forecast, the government hereby announces that all government offices, private institutions, schools and all educational institutions will be closed on September 28, 2021,” Kumar The issued command is read. However, according to the order, all departments and staff related to relief and emergency services will remain fully operational. Although Cyclone Gulab weakened after the landing process was completed, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued flash flood risk (FFR) warnings for several areas in Telangana. According to the Meteorological Department, Badradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Adilabad, Bhuvanagiri, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Peddapalley Karimnagar, Rajanna Siricilla, Jayashankar Bhupalle, Mulugu, Jagitial, Mahbubabad and Janagoan can witness flash floods.
