3000 junior doctors of Madhya Pradesh have resigned collectively. On the fourth day of their statewide strike, junior doctors resigned accusing the government of not accepting their demands. Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh High Court had termed their strike illegal and directed them to return to work within 24 hours.

Surprisingly, on behalf of the government in the High Court, the Advocate General informed that the demands of the junior doctors have been accepted. At the same time, doctors are denying this. Junior doctors of Gwalior’s GR Medical College, who resigned, told that the government is not even ready to talk to them.

Doctors say that the government is talking about accepting four out of six demands, but which are they, they are not telling. Dr. Ankita Tripathi, Vice President of GR Medical College Junior Doctors Association said that they were on strike for four days.

Been trying to communicate with the government continuously. The demands that the government is talking about accepting, but what those demands are, they do not know. They are on strike for four days, but the medical education minister is not even talking to our representatives.”

Junior doctors also say that earlier the government had assured to accept their demands on May 6, but later retracted. State Junior Doctors Association President Arvind Meena says that Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang has not accepted the demands of Juda, he has only given assurance.

330 junior doctors of GVR Medical College met Dr. Sameer Gupta, Dean in charge of the college, and submitted their collective resignations to him.
