Xiaomi founder Lei Jun answers Questions related to Xiaomi 12, Automobiles, Surge chip & more
Lei Jun made it clear in QnA that next, Xiaomi’s winter flagship series (Mi 12 series, Xiaomi 13 series, etc.) will release two flagship smartphones, one suitable for users who like one-handed operation. Usability, and a giant flagship for those who want a larger battery and a larger screen for a better multimedia experience. He gave an example that the smaller Mi 12 is designed to compete with Apple’s iPhone 13, while the Mi 12 Pro is designed to compete with Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro Max. Since Xiaomi has successfully developed three self-developed chips, Surge S1, Surge C1, and Surge P1, Lei Jun mentioned that in the future, Xiaomi will continue to develop self-developed chips to promote the development of the industry. As for whether the Surge chip will be released again in 2022, Lei Jun replied that Xiaomi is making every effort to research and develop and launch better products as soon as possible.
Reiterate that the self-developed smart car will be launched in 2024
Regarding the rumored Xiaomi self-developed car brand, Lei Jun informed that there is good news. Xiaomi will launch its first car in 2024, ahead of the projected 2026. Regarding the rumors that Lei Jun will leave Xiaomi’s smart phone department after the establishment of Xiaomi’s smart car department, Lei Jun mentioned that smart phones are still the core business of Xiaomi. As the company’s founder and CEO, he will always have a soft spot for smart phones in his heart.
Mi 12 will be equipped with MIUI 13 out of the box
Regarding the improvement of the next iteration of MIUI, Lei Jun mentioned that the MIUI team has received a lot of feedback from users and the public, solved problems in the user interface, and provided the best software experience for Xiaomi users around the world. He hopes that everyone can provide feedback and support for the beloved work of the MIUI team over the years. Both Mi 12 and 12 Pro will be pre-installed with MIUI 13 in the box.

Early this week, renders of the Edge 50 Fusion appeared, and Motorola has previously stated that the Edge 50 Pro will ship on April 3. The highest-end smartphone in the Edge 50 series, the Edge 50 Ultra, has now been shown in renders.
The phone is depicted in the renderings in peach fuzz and black with a vegan leather finish, while sisal, a beige color, will have a brushed surface. As opposed to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the Pro variant and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in the Edge 50 Fusion, the phone is reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.
A 50MP primary camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a periscope telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom are all included in the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra’s feature set. Additionally, there is a triple LED flash on the right side and a laser autofocus feature above the periscope lens.
Although the phone’s display, battery, and charging specifications are yet unknown, the Edge 50 Pro is said to include 12GB of RAM and support both 50W and 125W wired and wireless charging.
It is anticipated that this will launch as the Motorola X50 Ultra in China. It is unclear if the India launch may be expected on the same day as the rest of the Edge 50 series phones, even if this is scheduled to go official on April 3.
