Debina Bonnerjee responds to questions about why she refers to her mother-in-law as “aunty”
Debina Bonnerjee has slammed those who question why she holds her baby in a specific way or why she refers to her mother-in-law as aunty rather than mummy. Debina shared a photo of herself holding her daughter Lianna on Instagram Stories. Gurmeet Choudhary, her actor husband, stood beside her. Their mothers also stood inside their home and posed for the camera.
Debina captioned the photo, ” “You have so many questions!! Why do I hold my baby in this position? Why do I refer to my mother-in-law as aunty rather than mummy? Any more inquiries?” “All I say is I’m surrounded by a few pair of protective hands as you can see.. who says everything is fine,” she added.
Debina told India Today that people have given her advice on how she should interact with her baby. “It doesn’t bother me when people try to tell me how I should treat my baby, but it is hurtful.” As an actor, I’m used to trolls, but this is my first time playing one. When people say things like “at least hold the baby correctly,” it hurts.”
“People don’t understand that I am the mother, and why would I be careless if I am holding the baby I have brought into this world with such love?” she continued. I am such a strong person, and my one hand is enough to hold her if I feel the baby is comfortable and I am comfortable holding my baby that way. When people say things like that, it reminds me of the Hindi proverb “maa se jyada mausi ko dard.”
Debina and Gurmeet welcomed their first child, a daughter, in April.
